The APWA NE Branch held its annual holiday party on December 6th at the City of Tulsa’s Central Center located at 1028 E. 6th Street, Tulsa, OK. Thirty-seven people attended from 16 organizations. The APWA NE branch sponsored lunch for this event.
Following the meal, Tommie Heltcel, NE Branch Chairman, welcomed attendees and facilitated a “year in review” discussion. During his review, Tommie expressed appreciation for monthly speakers and lunch sponsors, provided monthly attendance statistics, highlighted three facility tours that occurred during the year, and stated his goal to start a Public Works Institute in the coming year. Total attendance at eight branch meetings and three tours totaled 479, an average of 44 attendees per event.
Craig Stokes, NE branch board member, facilitated a trivia contest for attendees. City of Tulsa employee John Reel won the trivia contest. Prizes were donated by several firms, and all participants were able to select a prize. Attendees donated toys and $130 cash for the Marine Toys for Tots organization. As a result, 50 toys were delivered to Toys for Tots.
